Portage

Terms of Use

Last updated

The short version

  • Portage is beta software, provided as is, with no warranty. It hasn't been independently audited.
  • You control your keys and you're responsible for your transactions. Blockchain transactions can't be reversed.
  • We can't reverse, recover or refund anything, and we can't restore a lost recovery phrase.
  • Nothing in Portage is financial advice.

1. Accepting these terms

These terms apply to the Portage browser extension and this website (together, “Portage”). “We” and “us” mean the developer of Portage. By installing or using Portage, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use it.

2. What Portage is

Portage is self-custody wallet software. It creates and stores your keys on your own device and helps you prepare and sign transactions. It is not a bank, broker, exchange or custodian: we never hold your funds and we can't move them.

Portage is beta software. It may contain bugs, and it has not been independently audited. Use it with amounts you can afford to lose.

3. Your keys, your responsibility

You alone control your recovery phrase, password and private keys. We never have a copy and can't recover them. If you lose your recovery phrase, or someone else gets it, you may permanently lose your funds.

You are responsible for every transaction you approve, including checking the network, token, amount and destination address on the review screen before you confirm, and for keeping your device and browser secure.

4. Transactions are final

Blockchain transactions can't be reversed, cancelled or changed once they are submitted. We can't reverse, recover or refund any transaction, including one sent to a wrong address or network, one made by mistake, or one affected by a bug, a network problem or market movement. Quotes, prices and estimates shown in Portage come from third parties and can change before a transaction completes.

5. Third-party services

Portage relies on independent services to work. Each operates under its own terms and policies, which apply when you use them through Portage:

  • Husher carries out bridges. Husher is an exchange: while a bridge is in progress, it holds your deposit until it pays out on the destination network, or refunds it.
  • Jupiter provides Solana swaps and executes limit, take-profit and stop-loss orders. While an order is open, its funds are held in a Jupiter-managed vault, not in your wallet.
  • LI.FI provides swaps on EVM chains.
  • Market data, charts, prices and network access come from providers such as DexScreener, GeckoTerminal, DefiLlama and blockchain RPC providers.

We don't control these services and aren't responsible for their availability, accuracy, conduct or solvency, or for any loss caused by them. Disputes about a bridge, order or swap must be taken up with the service that carried it out.

6. Fees

Portage charges no fee. Third-party services charge their own fees and spreads, and networks charge transaction fees. Portage shows these before you confirm, based on what the providers report.

7. Not financial advice

Nothing in Portage or on this website is financial, investment, legal or tax advice. Token information, prices, charts, market data and profit-and-loss figures are provided for information only and may be incomplete, delayed or wrong. Crypto assets are volatile and you can lose everything you put in. Make your own decisions, and get professional advice if you need it.

8. No warranty

Portage is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted or error-free operation.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss of funds, tokens, profits, data or opportunity, or for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, arising from your use of, or inability to use, Portage or any third-party service, even if we were told such loss was possible.

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain exclusions or limits, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

10. Using Portage lawfully

You are responsible for making sure your use of Portage is legal where you live, and for any taxes on your transactions. Don't use Portage for anything unlawful, and don't try to interfere with it or with the services it connects to.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the date at the top of this page. If you keep using Portage after an update, the new terms apply. We may also change or stop offering Portage at any time.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [YOUR JURISDICTION], without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

13. Contact
